Web-sized copies of a painting's photo
Export web-sized copies of the painting's photo.
What it's for
The Images tab exports the open painting's photo at a range of web-friendly sizes - 1600, 1200, 1080, 800, 600 and 400 on the long side - ready to upload to your site or a shop. Files come out as JPEGs named with the painting's title and size (e.g. enchantress-of-numbers-1200.jpg). 1600 is the size the catalogue itself holds, so it is a full-quality copy of the stored photo; 1080 is there because Instagram keeps a photo at its own resolution up to 1080 pixels wide and sizes anything wider down to 1080, so exporting at 1080 means your picture is only resized once. Beside the sizes is a guide that draws each one as an outline at your painting's shape, with an email newsletter, an Instagram post and a laptop screen marked on the same scale - tick a size and its outline lights up, or click an outline to tick it.
The source image
By default it uses the painting's catalogue image, which is held at 1600px. That covers every size the tab offers. If you want something larger - say for a print shop that needs the full scan - drop in a bigger JPEG or PNG using the "Use a bigger file instead" button.
Choosing sizes
Tick the sizes you want from the checklist. Any size larger than the source is greyed out so you never upscale. Press "Just this" next to any single size to download that one on its own, or press the main button to download all the ticked sizes as a zip.
Quality and sharpening
- JPEG quality - a slider from 60 to 95. Higher means bigger files but better detail. 85 is a good default.
- Sharpen after resizing - on by default. The app steps each image down by halves rather than dropping it straight to the target size, which preserves fine watercolour detail. The sharpen pass afterwards restores the crispness that any resize costs.
Watermark
Toggle "Add a watermark to exports" to overlay a visible mark on every image you export. Four styles are available:
- Diagonal text - your brand line (e.g. WISTFULWORLD.ART) repeated at an angle across the entire image, set in bold in the Sans from Brand type on the Business tab. The hardest to crop out.
- Logo tiled - your logo repeated in a grid across the image. You can adjust the logo size and spacing between tiles.
- Logo - a single copy of your logo placed in the centre, bottom-right, or bottom-left corner.
- Lines - parallel diagonal lines across the surface.
The opacity slider controls how visible the watermark is - 35% is a good balance between protection and viewing. Your watermark settings are saved so you only have to configure them once. Logo-based styles need a logo uploaded on the Business tab. If none is uploaded, they fall back to diagonal text automatically.
These same controls are on the Post tab, under the two arrangements that are the painting on its own, and they drive this same setting. Move the watermark there and it has moved here; change it here and it has changed there. It is one mark, so there is only ever one answer to what your watermark looks like.
The two ticks are separate, though, because they are separate questions. "Add a watermark to exports" above marks the files you download from this tab. "Mark this painting" on the Post tab marks that post. Turning one on does not turn the other on.
AI protection
Glaze is a free tool from the University of Chicago that adds invisible perturbations to your images, making it harder for AI models to learn your style. It runs as a separate app - export your images here, then run them through Glaze before posting online. A link to download Glaze appears in the watermark section.
This tab doesn't store anything except your watermark settings - sizes are made when you ask for them and disappear when you leave. The catalogue image is always there as long as the painting has a photo.
