Setting up your artist brand
Set up once: your identity, brand assets, colours, and AI key.
What it's for
The Business tab is where you enter everything about you and your brand - your name, your logo, your colours, your website. You fill it in once, and the Card and Reel tabs pull from it automatically, so you never retype the same details for every painting. The key for writing stories is not here: that, and everything else that plugs into another service, lives on the Configuration tab.
Nothing here belongs to a single painting. It's your standing setup, and it applies across the whole app. Come back whenever something changes - a new logo, a new address - and everything you make afterwards picks it up.
Who you are
The top-left card holds your written details:
- Business name and Artist name - how you're credited.
- Brand line - your wordmark, set in whatever brand font you load below. This is what appears on the card and reel.
- Tagline - a short line about your work.
- Paint you use - the brand of paint you normally work in, such as Golden OPEN Acrylics. It fills in on every back label so it only has to be typed once; a painting done in something else can say so on its own label.
- Artist statement - one paragraph about the work, in your own voice. It goes on the second page of a portfolio made on the Batch Print tab, and it is the paragraph an open call or a gallery asks for, so writing it once here stops three versions of it going out.
- Contact address and Website - where people reach you or see more.
Where else you are
Add your social accounts here. Click “Add one” for each, type the label (Instagram, Facebook…) and your handle, and use “Drop” to remove any you don't want.
On the business card these sit side by side near the bottom, each handle with its platform label underneath in the accent colour, and move down to a second row when they will not fit across. Their size, spacing and how many share a row are under Socials in the card designer.
Artwork and type
The Brand images card is for your logo, QR code and font. Each loads from a file on your computer:
- Logo - a PNG with a transparent background sits cleanly on black.
- QR code - a square PNG pointing wherever you like: your site, a shop page, or a single painting.
- Grunge card frame - the full-bleed background for the printed card. Supply it at the card's own size.
- Brand font - the .otf or .ttf your brand line is set in. The app ships no font and needs none: without one, the brand line falls back to a plain wide sans.
- More brand fonts - up to three more font files (.otf, .ttf, .woff or .woff2). Each is named from its file and shown in its own lettering; type in the box to rename it, or press Remove. They appear at the top of every font list in the app, under "Your brand fonts".
Brand type
Every picture the app makes sets its text in one of five kinds of font, and the Brand type card chooses each one: Brand (the brand line and big headings), Script (painting titles, names and handwritten lines), Serif (longer reading, like the labels), Typewriter (the story on the card, email, website and small print) and Sans (plain captions and notes). Under each list is your name, written in the font it is set to.
Change one and it changes everywhere that kind of text appears: the Card, Papers, Post, Reel and Business card tabs, and the text watermark. Each list has your own fonts first, then the built-in ones.
Every list starts on the font the app has always used, so nothing changes until you pick something. The certificate heading and the post and reel titles keep Fraunces until you choose a Serif. "Back to the original fonts" puts all five back.
A wider font is not a problem for text that fits itself to the space - titles, stories and captions are measured in the font you chose and set smaller if they need to be. A font that has no bold or italic of its own is thickened or slanted by the computer where the app draws bold or italic text, which can look a little rough; if it does, choose a different font for that kind of text.
The plain printed documents, such as price lists, checklists and the diary, still print in Georgia.
Colours
Set your four default colours - Text, Panel, Edge, and Accent. The Card and Reel start from these, so your pieces share one look. You can still override them on the Card or Reel tab for a one-off without changing what's set here.
Nothing on this page needs anything from outside the app - it is all your own details and files. The keys and accounts live on the Configuration tab.
